FlameHoraay Football! ...Rock Update // 9.11.08

We're all very excited that football season is here and I think its safe for me to speak for the entire band when I say, Go Cocks!

August was an exciting and busy month for us. We played seven shows and covered a good bit of ground in our trusty old van we like to call, The White Whale... or sometimes, Orka. Free Willy might be a good name for it too. Nonetheless, it got us from point A to point B and back again safely, thanks to a fresh alignment adjustment and a new tire.

Thanks to those of you that made it out to see us do what we like to do best: rock the f*%k out. If you didn't make it out in August to see us, you missed killer shows at Headliners, Riders Lounge, The Village Tavern, The Red Lion Pub, The Dive and finally, Wedgestock. We got to try out our new lights, which are really bright LEDs that we just love because they're a lot cooler than traditional cans - yet we seem to sweat just as much as always.

Very special thanks goes out to our manager and our booking agent for being generally awesome and helping us stay busy, while allowing us the space we need to write and record new music for the next album. Its a balancing act for all of us and we're privileged to be on the same "rock team."

September has some exciting things coming up for us, including the following shows:

9/12/08 The Gypsy (Greenville, SC)

9/20/08 The Masquerade {Hell} (Atlanta, GA) – Atlantis Music Festival

9/26/08 The Venue (Camden, SC)

We're honored to be included in this year's Atlantis Music Festival and we're psyched to be playing at a great venue (The Masquerade). If you're in the area, make sure you get there for our set, which will start at 8:15 p.m. sharp.

The new music is coming along nicely and we're really enjoying our home studio(s), which make the writing process much more efficient and productive. The ideas are pouring out (like Whiskey! ...mmm, whiskey). The next record is going to kick much ass.

Guess that's it for now.  See you at the next show.

Rock!

FlameIts a long way to the top, if you wanna rock and roll! // 8.06.08

Good evening music lovers!  We had a great time playing Riders Lounge in Hilton Head last Sat. night.  Cori Yarckin did three nights there (Fri., Sat. & Sun.) and they were kind enough to open the show for us Sat. night.  A special thanks to them for sharing their gear w/ us.

We had a slight delay on the way into Hilton Head when we blew a tire.  It seems the alignment on our van is way out, which caused the tire to blow.  Thank God we weren’t on the highway doing 70!  We were lucky enough only to be driving about 40 mph.  The Hot Lava Monster pit crew (Wes and Patrick) changed the tire in no time.  Turns out we were only about 10 minutes from the club.  As they say, “The show must go on!”  The show definitely went on and we had a blast.  We played a new tune that got a great response.  Its (currently) called Horse.  Thanks to Shane for dialing the sound system in for us and to the staff at Riders Lounge for their hospitality.  It’s a very cool club indeed.  We look forward to playing there again soon.

We continue writing new music for the next record, which is going to be a ROCKER.  In the next month we’ve got some great shows coming up.  Be sure to help us spread the word about our music and these shows, and check us out if you can.  See you soon…

FlameROCK! // 7.28.08

Greetings from Hot Lava Monster!  Its been a while since we've posted any news and about time we brought you up to speed on what we've been doing this summer.  We are hard at work on new music for our next record, tentatively titled... The Best Rock Record Ever.  We're kidding about the title of course.  We have no title yet for the record but we do have some ROCKING new tunes, about which we are very excited.  We are each capable of recording at home now and we have our own top secret web site that we use to share our ideas with each other.  That has streamlined the writing process a good bit and the ideas are pouring out.  A good bit of our time this summer has been spent at my home studio working as a group on new songs.  They're coming along smoothly and we're very excited about the direction of the music.  The next record is surely going to ROCK!

Recently we had the opportunity to record at ISI Recording in Augusta, GA.  Wes (formerly of Everything After) and his partner Dave invited us down to record some tunes for a promotional disc they're producing.  Their studio is very impressive and we had a great time working with them (thanks guys!).

This weekend we're off to Hilton Head to play Riders Lounge.  We've got some great shows coming up, including our long awaited return to Headliners for 93.5's Friday Night Live concert series.  You definitely don't want to miss that show folks.  Rumor has it we'll be trying out some of the new tunes.

See you at the ROCK SHOW!

FlameUpdate // 6.07.08
Thanks to everyone in Stuck Mojo for an awesome time at The Red Lion Pub in Augusta, GA.  Also, thanks to the guys in Vendetta who came all the way from Peterborough, UK; and, thanks to the guys in Hatefist who came all the way from Seattle, WA, to support Stuck Mojo on this tour.  The Red Lion was full of ROCK and we enjoyed sharing our molten flavor.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our next show in Columbia, which will be at Headliners for Rock 93.5's Friday Night Live.  There's a good chance we may debut a few new songs for our hometown fans.  The new music is coming along well and we're very excited about the overall direction of the new record.

Until next time... ROCK!

FlameUpdate on the new record... // 5.13.08
We're knee deep in the writing process of our next record. Our latest venture involved us all getting our home studios up and running, which makes the creative process much more efficient for us. The new demos are sounding great and we're all very excited about them.  So far we've got close to 30 new song ideas and hope to finish them and many more before we step foot in the studio, which should be sometime this fall.  The next record is sure to be a molten hot rocker.  Stay tuned for updates and be sure to catch us live this summer!

FlameNew Songs & Upcoming Shows // 12.01.07
We've been working hard on new material in anticipation of our next full length album. We should start recording rough demos in the coming months and we're all very excited about the new material. The new song ideas are, well, lets just say... molten hot rock! If you come to our next show at The Five Points Pub in Columbia, SC, there's a good chance you might hear a new song or two. That show is next Friday night, December 7, 2007. It just so happens, that day is also Hot Lava Mike's birthday, so be sure to come help us celebrate. By the way, he is partial to scotch. We'll also have some cool new shirts for sale.

The following week we'll be participating in a battle of the bands contest sponsored by Bodog Music. We've made it to the second round and will be playing at The Milestone Club in Charlotte, NC on Wed. December 12, 2007. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are available in advance for $10.00 ($15.00 at the door). Contact us through our myspace page, or by email at hotlava@hotlavamonsterband.com and we'll set you up w/ advanced tickets.
